Child of The Revolution (Part II) They got scared, I suppose
Some of them, at least
After Kent State
Others simply faded, I guess
Coping and bleeding alone
Like the vets coming back home
Another percent was seduced,
so they say
By drugs and consultation fees
The inevitable adaptability of capitalism
Peace symbols, in the end, can be bought
Long hair and jeans
Free love commodified
Still, this much remains true:
That in that span of time, so brief,
in the haze of Woodstock,
the fiery chants of peace rallies
close curtained pot smoking visions
Things were born
and people and ideas
orphans, exiles
Children
who ask
where
did the revolution go?
